Frank and Maria Daraio

I began breeding arabians under the Aratar Arabians banner in 1981. Back then the stud consisted of a small number of mares and one crabbet bred colt. Dara Park itself was created in 2000 when Frank and I married and combined what was then two separate breeding programs - that of Dara Quarter Horses and Aratar Arabians. The new establishment adopted the name of Dara Park Stud.

For a time we continued breeding both arabians and quarter horses. But soon afterwards we moved to a purely arabian and derivative breeding program.

The importation of the El Shaklan bred Om El Akid from the famous Om El International stud began the modern era here at Dara Park Stud.

Angelina is our only daughter and was born in 2004.  She has been passionate about horses and particularly arabian horses since she first began to walk.

Throughout her time at pony club she has always ridden either an arabian derivative or a purebred arabian. The most prominent of the are the arabian pony mare, Dara Park Panache and Aratar Shatiira.

Angelina has enjoyed showing arabians right from when she was little and has successfully competed at top level including at the Victorian Arabian Horse Classic and at the Australian Championships.

Angelina intends on taking Dara Park Stud into a new era as soon as she finishes her school education in a couple of years time. Her aim is to breed beautiful purebred and derivative arabians capable of competing successfully in halter and performance, including showing, dressage and jumping.
